Paint it Black

I love a touch of black in a space, but doing an all or mostly black interior is a hard sell! And understandably so. It's the color of mystery and evil, but it can also be elegant, associated with the sophistication of a "black tie event" or the "little black dress".

Black interiors can be moody, classy, edgy, and a little bold, but by balancing the dark in a space with additional colors, textures and materials, you can create a space that is still approachable, cool, even calming. A black backdrop helps to highlight the beauty of anything that stands in front of it. Using it in just a portion of the room (for example: going with black kitchen cabinets, installing a black marble tile, or even painting an accent wall) can create a look that's just as striking.

The first image to this blog post is one of those pins I love, so much so that I think I've pinned it several times accidentally. While organizing my Pinterest board, I noticed it wasn't even close to the only black interior i've saved, which prompted me to create a "Paint it Black" board. So for my first blog post I'd like to pay homage to one of my favorite colors (and bands) by sharing with you some of my favorite interiors and their designers' impeccable use of the color black.
